Covered Bridges Tandem Ride

Ohio

Plans are underway for the tenth Tandem Weekend in Ashtabula County on September 12 and 13.  This is the most northeastern county in Ohio.  The area is primarily rural and very scenic.  There are 17 covered bridges and a number of small wineries.  The ride will visit 11 to 15 of the bridges (www.coveredbridgefestival.org/bridges.htm).

There are numerous opportunities for great photographs.  Several of the bridges and a tavern (www.yeoldtavern.com) are on the National Registry of Scenic Places. Terrain is flat to rolling with no long, severe climbs. Rides will be centered out of Austinburg at exit 223 on Interstate 90. Detailed maps and cue sheets will be available.

Riders will be expected to provide or purchase their own food and make their own overnight accommodations. The Comfort Inn will be our host hotel. Cutoff for reduced rate reservations is September 5.  A nominal fee of $20.00 will be charged per team to cover planning expenses and services.  Participation will be limited to 30 tandem teams.
